14th rabi ul awal (death of imam malik ) ra

Amongst his various literary compilations ‘ kitaabul Mu’atta’ is the most eminent. Imam Shaafi’ee (RA) has stated regarding ‘Kitaabul Mu’atta’: "On the face of the earth there is no kitaab more authentic than Mu’atta." It should be borne in mind that Imaam Shafi’ee (RA) passed away in the year 204 A.H. before the compilation of Sahih Bukhari. Today, it is a unanimously agreed opinion that Sahih Bukhari is ranked as No.1 in this field.

Imam Maalik (RA) was very cautious in procuring fatawaa. He never recited a hadith without ablution.

Imam Malik died at the age of 84 in Medina and is buried in the famous Jannat ul-Baqi cemetery across from the Masjid al Nabawi. Malik's last words were related by one Isma'il Ibn Abi Uways who said, "Malik became sick, so I asked some of our people about what he said at the time of his death. They said, `He recited the shahadah (testification of faith), then he recited:

Their affair is for Allah, before and after. (Quran 30:4)
